I have always done something similar, and found it the best way to go
(when weighing functionality against server resources). The only
suggestion that might be of use is instead of having numerous session
variables, you could slimline it by creating an user object (containing
user id, and user info, etc.) and then store that object in a session
variable. Is there a way to send a popup message when the session expires and to
automatically send the user back to the logon page? Thanks.
